Pitch to the Chief™ Returns to Venture13

Cobourg, ON – The V13 Policetech Accelerator’s Pitch to the Chief™ competition, hosted in partnership with the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) and NCFDC, will be returning to Venture13 on Thursday November 3, 2022. Prizes featuring $5,000 in cash, co-location at Venture13, opportunities to pilot and more will be awarded in the two competitions (Community Safety/Operational Efficiencies).

The event connects and engages local youth and start-ups in developing strategies for crime prevention and community wellness, offering opportunities for mentorship and real-world experience including pitching solutions that will enhance community safety and development, and improve overall operational efficiency and effectiveness of local policing.

The competition exposes participants to collaborative problem solving, while also building upon their entrepreneurial skill sets. Up to 12 teams will be participating and presenting to a panel of industry experts, led by Cobourg’s Chief of Police, Paul VandeGraaf.

Through the V13 Policetech Accelerator, a joint initiative between Cobourg Police Service and NCFDC, we seek to find innovative, sustainable solutions to the issues facing Cobourg Police Service and police services across Ontario. The Pitch to the Chief event extends this mandate by allowing students to be active participants in community safety and wellness, bringing their unique lens to propose new solutions to challenges we face at the service and as a community.

While a novel idea is a good first step, a great pitch is an entrepreneur’s key to cracking into larger markets, securing follow-on investment and amplifying their successes. With the support of the Cobourg Police Service, our Pitch to the Chief competition immerses students and youth into an entrepreneurial mindset of igniting new and innovative approaches towards policing services and technology, while also gaining practical experience in pitching ideas to a live audience.
