Policetech Accelerator Highlights (2020-2021)

Our V13 Policetech Accelerator is a joint initiative of Northumberland CFDC and the Cobourg Police Service to drive community safety innovation. The first of its kind in North America, the initiative provides competitively selected Startups and Scaleups with investment, entrepreneurial support and business development opportunities including participation in frontline demonstration projects carried out in a defined small town pilot-scale environment.

The V13 Policetech Accelerator has participated in 9 pilots in the last year leading to 5 new technologies currently in the marketplace. Looking back, here are some of the key highlights and feature stories coming out of this joint initiative:

    Joe Miller (B.Sc., Notre Dame) is an entrepreneur, innovator and intellectual property specialist with extensive experience in technology transfer. Throughout his career he has led strategic ventures at the University Health Network (UHN), the Innovation Cluster, and Ontario Tech, where he was responsible for the University’s IP identification, evaluation, administration and commercialization.

    Areas of expertise include IP value creation, technology evaluation, tech transfer, commercialization grant writing, collaborative strategies and start-up assistance.
