“When I was unable to access any government COVID-19 programs, I was about to give up and the CFDC reached out. I thought… you want to help me? You’re stepping up? I was in this situation where every other potential source of support told me I didn’t qualify for any assistance. I’m so thankful Northumberland CFDC reached out to me, I would have closed and the fate of my eighty-six alpacas would have been dire. Because of the financing I received my business is not just going but thriving! I don’t have to worry about how I will feed the animals, I have merchandise in the store, the alpaca wool is being milled, and all maintenance has been done to face the winter. I have myself and two staff working and I’m taking bookings late into the fall. I’m so thankful.

“2020 was going to be a record year for my business, Cobblestone Farm Retreat. Our reservations for weddings, events, retreats and family stays were significantly higher than 2019 which was very exciting. Then COVID hit and everything came to a screeching halt. All of our large events were cancelled along with our international family stays. Without the support of RRRF my business would not have been able to survive. The continued support and guidance has helped me throughout this incredibly difficult time and I cannot thank the team at Northumberland CFDC enough.”

“Our business Fells Meadows (a new business in Northumberland County inspiring people to reconnect with nature and be in retreat to nourish mind, body and soul), was just finding some momentum when the pandemic hit. The RRRF program is enabling us to weather the challenges, particularly with the ability to pay fixed costs through lock down periods and manage cash flow. We are so very grateful for this life-line support. This is walking the talk of ‘we are in this together’.”

“With the pandemic, it has been very challenging and stressful for small businesses. With the help and support from the CFDC, we were able to maintain our seasonal wedding venue in a time when restrictions did not allow for large gatherings, catering, dancing, and all other matters associated with a wedding, which resulted in couples making the difficult decision to postpone their special day.”
